Dengue: More Aggressive Campaign This Week
Heavy rains on Friday and Saturday disrupted operations by the authorities in the fight against mosquito vectors of dengue.

Thus, today, Monday, March 24, the squad of the health inspectorate of the Ministry of Health will be strengthened. More than sixty inspectors and staff of the fumigation will be mobilized in Triolet. The same exercise will be extended to Vallée Pitot and Pointe-aux-Piments where other cases have been recorded in the last 48 hours.

Yesterday, the Ministry took care to say whether other cases of dengue were recorded after the 26 cases identified as a result of analyzes performed in the laboratory of Candos. "We have established a protocol. And we point to the population each two days, " a source close to supports this. The latest information on the evolution of the disease are likely to be disclosed in the course of the day.

However, the Ministry of Health has revised its strategy regarding the eradication of mosquitoes. First it aims to eliminate places conducive to the spread of these insects.

Since the alert was declared in Triolet, March 14, 543 warnings were issued to those who do not comply with the instructions of the health authorities. But today, the authorities engage a much more aggressive campaign.

"This time, inspectors will visit those who were warned to see if all precautions have been taken and if the proliferation risks have been eliminated. If this is not the case, they will be liable to a fine of Rs 1,000, " says head of the inspectorate of the Ministry of Health, Satish Beeharry. Any person who is the subject of a warning has 48 hours to take corrective measures. However, an officer of the Department indicates that the situation is under control despite the bad weather.

"It is true that the rains have forced us to revise our strategy, but the situation is under control," he said. To date, larvicides were propagated in more locations throughout 3626 Triplet. Other such operations are planned later this week.
