Wi-Fi in All Colleges by 2014

By the end of 2014, all colleges in the country will be equipped with a wireless system. It is expected by Ministry of Education in collaboration with the Ministry of ICT.

According to Education Minister Vasant Bunwaree, it will be a major development in the education system in Mauritius. He recalled that the Internet is indispensable in everyday life whether it be at work or in school. According to him, with increasing use of technologies for teaching and development of tools for a mobile Internet access, WLAN access is becoming a necessity for schools.

'' A revolution in ICT has already been launched in the education sector with the government's efforts to develop the process of digitization of classrooms, which was initiated with the Sankore project with the support of France. Wi-fi fault system, colleges should bring a USB key to access the Internet,'' said the minister to Le Matinal. '' We are in the process of creating digital schools will be expected to meet the needs of the community and promote the creation of digital learning now that websites have been set up in schools communities'', he says. As a reminder, the distribution of tablets for students will be from Thursday. -
