This Mark Zuckerberg Picture Could Show Our Terrifying Dystopian Future

Perhaps this image is slightly true of some of us today - Zuckerberg creates while we are wasting time on platforms he owns, such as Instagram and Facebook, but as VR becomes part of our lives, this could become at least part of our future.

However, social media evidently does enhance our lives in many ways, as probably will Virtual Reality, but it is hard to deny the striking nature of the image.

The picture was taken on Sunday, when more than 5,000 people put on virtual reality headsets at a Samsung event in Barcelona.

Ahead of the Mobile World Congress 2016, the tech giant unveiled its new smartphones - the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge - along with the Gear 360 camera which lets you record your own VR video.

Viewers thought it looked like Mark Zuckerberg, a powerful billionaire, was walking among his subjects - who are all blinded by the screens in front of their eyes.

LG, Samsung, Google and Facebook are among tech companies developing Virtual Reality headsets.

Google is reported to be developing a new smartphone virtual reality headset to rival Facebook's Oculus Rift.

The headset, which will go on sale later in the year, is the successor to 2014's Google's Cardboard kit, which slots a smartphone in front of lenses to create a makeshift VR pair of goggles.

Google is planning to replace its cardboard body with plastic casing and incorporate more sensitive head-tracking sensors, according to theFinancial Times. Google declined to comment.

Cardboard is predicted to account for around 30 per cent of the virtual reality headset market in 2016, ahead of Samsung's Gear VR smartphone headset, created in collaboration with Facebook-owned Oculus Rift.
