The result of a partnership between the Medine group and SAF Healthcare Holdings Co Ltd, the hospital will offer primary healthcare, but also in new specialties that have not existed in Mauritius until now.
This investment is part of the group's development strategy, aimed at creating a unique value proposition in the west of Mauritius. It will be part of the inclusive and dynamic ecosystem that the group is putting in place to promote the progress of the region, in line with its new territorial brand The West.
Covering an area of 13,500 square meters, the private hospital will occupy a plot of nearly five acres located in Cascavelle, just a few minutes from the main residential areas of the West region. Once completed, the medical facility will have a capacity of 110 beds. This Full-Fledged private hospital will bring together in one place basic health care as well as various medical and surgical specialties – including exclusive and unprecedented care in Mauritius. Work should begin in the second half of this year and be completed by the end of 2025.
“Medine aims to create an inclusive, dynamic and coherent ecosystem in the western region, with residential, commercial, educational, sports and recreational activities. This new hospital will therefore be part of the unique value proposition that the group is putting in place for the progress of the region, in particular through its territorial brand, The West, which was recently unveiled. This territorial brand, which brings together under a single banner all the advantages of the territory, is the result of a deep reflection aimed at strengthening the attractiveness of an increasingly urban territory", affirms Dhiren Ponnusamy, Chief Executive Officer of the Medine group.
Once operational, this private hospital will benefit the entire population and first and foremost residents of the West region by offering them a health facility of choice in terms of immediate proximity. “This new multidisciplinary private hospital will meet the needs of local residents by filling a gap in health care options. The hospital is also anticipating the needs of the area, which is experiencing strong population growth with many residential, office and hotel projects in the pipeline,” added Dhiren Ponnusamy.
