The Cabinet approved the recommendations of the National Wage Advisory Council for an increase in the minimum wage. Thus, the National Monthly Minimum Wage will be increased from Rs 11,575 to Rs 15,000 from January 1, 2024, an increase of 29%.

Minister Callichurn highlighted that in addition to this increase, the Social Contribution Allowance (CSG) of Rs 2,000 will allow a person to have a Guaranteed Minimum Income of Rs 17,000 per month. To date, he said, some 141,700 workers in the public and private sectors are affected by this measure.
He recalled that the conflict between Russia and Ukraine has had global repercussions and has a direct impact on the purchasing power of citizens. Thus, the government has taken and continues to implement a series of measures to support the population, he assured.
