Josian Deelawon and Chandradeo Oomah were remanded in custody yesterday after appearing before the Bail and Remand Court (BRC).

The two men will appear in court again today, this time in Pamplemousses. Investigators objected to the release of the four suspects, arguing that they could tamper with evidence and proposed that they be remanded in custody for a week. Devianee Ramchurn's appearance, which could not take place yesterday afternoon as planned, will take place this morning in Pamplemousses. She was therefore remanded in custody.

Furthermore, Mr. Raouf Gulbul, having made a request for the provisional release of his client, former PM Pravind Jugnauth, this was debated in the afternoon, the police and the representative of the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Mr. Damodarsingh Bissessur, expressing strong objections. For Mr. Gulbul, these are only allegations. The debates began at 2 p.m. and lasted until 5 p.m. After a long wait, the verdict of magistrate Rishan Chineah fell around 10 p.m. and he granted PKJ parole , while waiting to appear today in court in Pamplemousses, to pay two sureties of Rs 750,000 each by bank checks and sign an acknowledgement of debt of Rs 5 million. However, Mr Damodarsingh Bissessur requested a stay of execution , the time to say whether the DPP intended to appeal. Which he ultimately did not do, and made this known around 11:45 p.m.

In the early hours of Saturday morning, Josian Deelawon was arrested in Arsenal by the Central Criminal Investigation Department (CCID). During a search, two suitcases and a bag containing approximately Rs 109 million were found. The CCID team also went to the home of Chandradeo Oomah, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the My Holidays group , owned by Josian Deelawon. At the scene, documents in the name of the Jugnauths, valuables, several foreign currencies totaling approximately Rs 5.5 million as well as a sum of Rs 497,000 were found.

Josian Deelawon explained that he was keeping suitcases belonging to the former PM and that Devianee Ramchurn was responsible for delivering the money to him. In November, shortly after the elections, the former PM allegedly invited him to a dinner and asked him to meet Devianee Ramchurn, the former deputy mayor of Vacoas , who would drop off the suitcases and money at his home a few days later. Investigators searched the Jugnauth couple’s home in Angus Road, Vacoas for several hours on Saturday afternoon. After seizing a phone and a tablet that will be analyzed, Kobita and Pravind Jugnauth were arrested and taken to the FCC office in the evening.

After several hours of interrogation, Kobita Jugnauth was allowed to return home. Pravind Jugnauth rejected Josian Deelawon's accusations and denied knowing him personally, claiming that he was just a member of his party. Devianee Ramchurn was also arrested after a search of her home. During another search of the Ramdanee family's hotels in Wolmar, in the presence of Sanjiv Ramdanee, nothing incriminating was found. According to a source close to the investigation, documents seized from the accountant's home were used to confront Pravind Jugnauth. The dates correspond to their last trips and reveal elements of a conspiracy to commit an illegal act . If Josian Deelawon and Chandradeo Oomah spoke, the latter was apparently the most talkative.
