The pricing advisory committee will make recommendations on pricing policy and strategies to be adopted for basic products manufactured locally as well as those that are imported.
The minister on Monday met various partners concerned with the import, manufacturing and distribution of products, including the State Trading Corporation, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, consumer groups, the Shop Owners Association, the Wholesale Dealers Association and representatives from the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development and the Ministry of Business, Enterprise, Cooperatives and Consumer Protection.
Soodhun stressed that he was working in close collaboration with minister of Business Michael Sik Yuen who has decided to set up a price observatory.
Dinan called on the cooperation of everyone. “If everyone contributes in a constructive manner, we can advise the government on how to help those in trouble even if the price hike is beyond our control.”
“I appreciate the ministry’s effort to provide all necessary information,” he said. The committee will meet on Wednesday.
