A group of 12 girls, who are currently enrolled for the BSc Tourism, Leisure and Recreational Management Level 2 course at the University of Mauritius (UoM) will be organising a hair and make-up show on April 2. The show will take place at the Octave Wiehe auditorium, Réduit from 1 pm to 4 pm.
The show being part of one of their modules namely Convention, Festivals and Event Management where they are required to do a group project, they have taken the initiative to organise show which will give them the opportunity to deal with real-life situations and to show their talent in event management.
The objectives of the show are to outline the importance of grooming in everyday life and particularly in the tourism and hospitality industry, to promote hair styling, to be updated about latest trends in technologies of hairdressing and cosmetics and to enhance the competence of students in extracurricular activities.
Nalida Chellemboyee, head of the organising team, said, “It is a new concept here but is very common in Europe.” She added that the project represents 30 per cent the final examinations score. “The project is taking a lot of our time and I had even missed several classes. Although we are stressed, we are gaining a lot of experience,” said Chellemboyee.
The show will consist of a health exhibition, where the public will be informed about products. A video clip will be projected to present the model contestants, demonstrating how they were before and the change after the make-up.
Azize Coiffure and his collaborators will present live demonstrations of different types of hair-styles and make-up. The contestant with the best new look will be rewarded.
The jury and public will cast their votes.
