Mr Sellapan Ramanathan, President of Singapore, will be on a State visit to Mauritius from tomorrow to Tuesday. He will arrive Mauritius in the afternoon and will stay at the Royal palm Hotel in Grand Bay.
Mr Ramanathan leads a high-level delegation comprising members of the Singapore government and the Singaporean private sector.
On Sunday, Mr Ramanathan will pay tribute to the Father of the Nation, the late Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam, at his samadhi Pamplemousses Garden.
Later, he will pay a courtesy call on the President, Sir Anerood Jugnauth, at State House, and Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam at Clarisse House.
One of the main events of the visit will be his participation at a business meeting hosted by the Board of Investment (BOI) in collaboration with the Joint Economic Council (JEC) at Le Meridien Hotel on Monday.
The president will address the business gathering, which will be attended by the Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Finance and Economic Development, Mr Pravind Jugnauth.
Other speakers include the Chairman of the BOI, Mr. M. Lam, and the Chairman of the Joint Economic Council, Mr. L. Rivalland.
The Singapore business delegation includes members of the Singapore Business Federation (SBF) and Singapore Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SICCI) and comprises senior representatives of companies operating in a wide range of sectors.
According to the BOI, this business event will be an exceptional opportunity for the business community of both countries to exchange views, network and identify joint-venture opportunities.
The BOI will also organise site visits for the Singaporean business delegation to explore business and investment opportunities here.
A State Banquet is scheduled for Monday evening at the Swami Vivekananda International Convention Centre in Pailles.
On Tuesday, the Singaporean president will address the National Assembly, after which he will receive the distinction of Honoris Causa from the University of Mauritius. He leaves the country on Tuesday afternoon.
