Mauritian Gita Mandal association will require a sum of around Rs 8 million
The construction of a new building, to be named Gita Pracharak Maha Mandal of the Gita Mandal association will require a sum of around Rs 8 million.
It will be built on 40 perches of land. However, due to a lack of funds, the members of the association are appealing to the public to donate money for their cause.
On the ground floor, the new building will include a temple with a big hall. The second floor will have a library with dictionaries, encyclopaedias, reference books and books on Hinduism and culture for students and academics.
A computer room, a boardroom and classrooms are also planned and the third floor will be a residential space for the priests.
In 1982, the members of Gita Mandal organised a fundraising event hoping to collect money to build the new building. However, this was not enough.
Despite the various constraints, an executive committee was set up in 1988. Its main objective was to construct the new building and use the complex as a centre of knowledge, meditation and spirituality.
