Rama Sithanen believes that India and Mauritius will negotiate soon on offshore

The former finance minister, interviewed by a television channel in India, argues that there is already agreement on the venue and the agenda of discussions.
"I believe that our two governments have agreed on a date for the resumption of negotiations. They agreed on the place and the agenda of discussions, " said Rama Sithanen.
The tax treaty between Great Peninsula and Maurice was attacked in many quarters politico-media in India. The Treaty of double taxation is often mentioned by Indian newspapers and negatively.
Some experts attribute this to the offshore campaign against offshore Mauritian MPs Communists. Others observe the intensification of the campaign since India signed a tax treaty with Singapore, the treaty not as favorable.
The former Grand treasurer has, moreover, said he agreed on the need to act against tax evasion and abuse caused by this treaty. There is also a strong collaboration between agencies of both countries to fight charges of tax evasion or ''round-tripping'' , he added.
