The Tourism Authority (TA) monitors compliance with the standard grain and quality of service in hotel industry and tourism. For a month, the body responsible for licensing the Tourist Enterprises has a regular team that crosses the island to call to order the operators of hotels, guesthouses, tourist residence and others. The first addresses targeted so far are already the subject of numerous complaints to the TA.
At the Tourism Authority, it is argued that following inspections, five operators were fined. The non-compliance is the main fault that they are charged.
"We now await the reports of the police and Health and it was after this that we will take appropriate sanctions," says one to the TA.
For now, lips are sealed on the names of these institutions. Meanwhile, the committee of this file to the TA, meets every Friday to ensure the maintenance of good practice in this key sector of the economy.
Last week, Tourism Minister Michael Sik Yuen had made a sortie against the virulent hotels and other tourist residences that tarnish the image of the destination and declared to the backup level of service in the industry's workhorse.
