This is an initiative of the National Computer Board (NCB). The objective is to increase the potential of our local ICT industry to export its services, particularly in the African region.
This will contribute to making the ICT sector the main pillar of our economy and country, as advocated in the National ICT Strategic Plan 2011 – 2012.
Chedumbrum stated that in the wake of the ongoing Euro crisis, the launch of this portal is very important. He explained, “The ICT Export Portal will be a valuable tool for the local ICT / BPO companies. It will enable them to tap into the vast opportunities arising out of the ever expanding regional and global ICT market. It will also help outsourcers and clients to access ICT products and services from Mauritius.”
The minister emphasised that there is enormous potential for exports in the African continent, which is on the brink of a major transformation. He said, “The outlook of the African region remains bright at a time when the rest of the world is facing major political and economic challenges.”
Chedumbrum stated that the portal will allow ICT companies to get precious information about ongoing tenders for both government and private sector ICT projects in the African continent. It will also provide information, compiled by the NCB, on Market Intelligence and Country Profile Markets in Africa
