A third recreation center for the elderly will be built at Pointe-aux-Pimets in the north of the island. The inhabitants of this region have long wished to have such a facility in their area. At its weekly meeting held Friday, May 11, 2012, the Cabinet has opted for a third or recreation center in Pointe-aux-Fruits, after those of Pointe-aux-Sables and Belle-Mare. The ceremony of laying the foundation stone will be held May 23, 2012. The project cost is estimated at Rs 155 million and the center will include 60 double rooms, an administrative block, kitchen, dining room, an auditorium, an amphitheater and a swimming pool. As a result of a stay lasting two days, this center will, every year, some 12,000 people from the Northeast to have a relaxing time. A clubhouse is also available. After Western, Eastern, Northern, Southern will also have its recreation center for senior citizens.
