The MRA and the Competition Commission will Give Notice

A partnership of information exchange in order to ensure transparency. It is in this context that the Director of the Mauritius Revenue Authority, Sudhamo Lal, and that of the Competition Commission, Sean Ennis, signed a memorandum of understanding, this Tuesday, May 29, 2012, at the headquarters of the CCM in Port- Louis. Both organizations will also benefit from sharing expertise. This should facilitate the investigation of the CCM to ensure healthy competition between companies.

We be reassured: the confidentiality of taxpayers will not be tested with this agreement. Indeed, the partnership ends with the limits defined by law. The director of the MRA states that the information disclosed will relate to imported products and their quantity, among others. " It's improving economic performance. Taxpayer information will be disclosed in any way. Everything is done in the interests of transparency to help the CCM to its investigations , "said Lal Sudhamo, which is reassuring.

For his part, Sean Ennis says that the information in the MRA are important for CCM in the sense that they enable him to compare the sales price and import. " We need this information to get to know the quantity of imported products and the price. This will determine if there is abuse of consumers and ensure fair competition between companies , "said Sean Ennis.
