A teacher shortage will be felt in 2013 in the primary for the Kreol. Indeed, the Ministry of Education is looking for teachers for teaching in primary schools Kreol. These aspiring teachers must be interested by this month since training should begin six months in advance.
Last year a hundred people had applied to become teachers Kreol. At least 60 of them were selected for training that began in July 2011.
For September 2013, approximately 3,000 of 18,000 new students in Std I, have registered for the Kreol. Teacher recruitment is done, this time by the Public Service Commission (PSC). This measure was proposed by the union Seegum Vinod, last year.
Indeed, in 2011, Kreol teachers were recruited by the Ministry of Education. This, according to Vinod Seegum, President of the Government Teachers Union (GTU), meant that the government wanted to try a test.
"Six months is not sufficient for complete training of teachers. For all other subjects, it takes three years. There he is more of a test ", said the union Seegum.
Teacher training will, in turn, provided by the Mauritius Institute of Education.
