Paul Olsen: La Traviata Will Be Strong Show...
A few days before the premiere of "La Traviata," Paul Olsen tells us his expectations, and gives us a taste of opera as expected.

How are preparations for the festival Opera Mauritius 2012?

It's going very well. We started up the scenery of La Traviata at MGI last Friday. The costumes are almost completed.Rehearsals began a month ago and a half. We are now in rehearsal lage fi [] different games played continuously ed] with piano. The singers will then go to the meeting where they will play La Traviata on 6 and 7 September in concert, without staging.

This is an opportunity for them to rehearse with the orchestra before Reunion celuici not come to Mauritius.

The Ticket follows it?

Yes, the public seems to go to the opera.

We just have a lot more tickets for the premiere of La Traviata, September 14. Symphony concert recitals and other festival 2012, people tend to wait until the last moment.

The production of "La Traviata" was planned for 2011 but was returned to this year because of funding.things go better then that side?

We had an extra year of preparation, which facilitated the funding issue.

Expenditures will be balanced Opera Mauritius this year. There was an early involvement of the state through the cell Culture and Future. The private sector helps us a lot, through financial contributions but also by in-kind donations. The ticket remains our main source of income.

We can say that we found the formula to move forward.

Thanks to it, we could lower the price of the most expensive seats, while maintaining Rs 100 seats. Because the goal is to propose a performance accessible to the greatest number.

The room was MGI favorite this year J & J Auditorium to host "La Traviata". Is it a choice that satisfies you?

Yes. Carmen was a great show, with great singers and even horses. We had a great scene, where the choice of J & J Auditorium in 2010. La Traviata is an opera by cons intimate, which takes place in a living room and a bedroom. MGI meets our expectations, it is cheaper and allows greater proximity between the audience and the stage.

The surtitles in French "La Traviata" is it developed?

Yes, we have experienced the technique with Hansel and Gretel last year. With the overage, the public will understand what is sung in Italian on stage. The issue of public information is important. That is why we have included a conference program with global specialist Verdi, Alessandro Di Profio.

You attended the rehearsals. What impression do they have left?

Duet scenes between Veronica Alexandru Badea Zuel-Bungarooet, the two main performers, emit an extraordinary complicity.Ludivine Petit key promises exceptional staging. Our two previous operas were in the big show, there can be expected to lace, emotion. La Traviata will be a show strong emotion.

Three years after "Pearl Fishers" Can it be said that opera grew in Mauritius?

Indeed. In 2009, we had to get seven singers from Germany. In 2010, Carmen, we no longer need to complement the choir Mauritius.

And this year, some singers like Jean-Michel Ringadoo and Sandrine Thomas Herchenroder, even got solo roles. This is a considerable progress. Progress which can also be observed by looking at the evolution of the choirs, the most local and higher Opera Mauritius. It shows a maturity and a desire to go further.

 Interview with Nabil Moolna

The first La Traviata will be held September 14 to 20h. Further performances are scheduled for 16, 18, 20 and 22 September to 20 h.
