CIEL Textile Weaving its Web in Emerging Markets
Section weaving (woven cluster) CIEL Textile Group is positioned in emerging markets. "For three years, China is becoming expensive," says Eric Dorchies, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the cluster, and Executive Director of Aquarelle Clothing Ltd..

Customers are looking for an alternative and "being present in Mauritius, Madagascar, India and Bangladesh, we are well positioned to benefit from the geographical transfer," says the CEO.

Weaving section includes units: Watercolor Clothing Ltd for casual shirts, New Island Clothing and Clothing in Laguna for Asia's Dress Shirts, Pastel Blue and blouses for Consolidated Fabrics Ltd for the production of fabrics. This woven cluster includes the design, weaving, dyeing and garment manufacturing various.

For the financial year ended 30 June 2012, the weaving section "achieved almost 50% of its turnover in India and Bangladesh, against 0% six years ago," said Eric Dorchies. "In s' settling in these regions, we start on the path of customers, "he says.

To reduce their overheads, European and American customers looking for other suppliers in Asia. And the CEO argued that they do not think in Mauritius or Madagascar, but to India, Vietnam, Bangladesh. Hence, adds Eric Dorchies the need for woven CIEL Textile cluster to be in Asia. "Being present in Asia strengthens our position in Mauritius and Madagascar," he says.

Section CIEL Textile weaving a sizeable growth opportunity, especially since it also positioned in other emerging markets, including South Africa. The cluster exports to this country for five years and its South African customers have aggressive investment strategies on the continent.

"This should enable us to take advantage of these markets," said Eric Dorchies. He also claims to want to improve their position in the Indian domestic market, which currently accounts for 20% of operations in the Great Peninsula. "And in two or three years ahead, we want to be in the Chinese market to support our European customers grow there, "he says.
