ICTA to Extend Free Wifi Access to 20 Other Regions

After the 11 regions covered during the first phase, the Information and Communication Technologies Authority (ICTA) will extend the WiFi Project Mauritius to 20 other regions.

This is following the positive response since the project was launched on 30th March 2012.

This new project will act as an extension of the existing one. It will further increase access to the Internet and

Broadband.

The first edition of the ICTA newsletter, published yesterday states that with the concept of creating an ‘E-Nation’, in the 21st century, Government believes that the goal of the USF should be to deliver Broadband connectivity and accessibility to innovative technologies to all parts of the country to improve upon the previous model aimed at the provision of telephony service.
