Regarding the Flacq Hospital, the government has spent over Rs 200 million for the construction of a new block and other related projects. Next year, the construction of another block at a cost of Rs 250 million may also be started.
A total of Rs 1.5 billion was spent to upgrade Dr Jeetoo Hospital while Rs 73 million was allocated to the Accident and Emergency Department at the SSRN Hospital.
“Other hospitals, area and community health centres have also witnessed major extensions and expansions. Renovation works have also been carried out,” said the minister of Health and Quality of Life, Lormus Bundhoo to The Independent.
A mediclinic in Plaine Verte has been constructed at a cost of over Rs 50 million. “Another one is under construction in Triolet at the estimated cost of Rs 53 million, and will be followed by another one in Goodlands,” he said. The minister added that works of this type will be carried out in other designated localities in the near future.
