A team from BOI was assigned the various tasks relating to the facilitation of the mission objectives, namely meetings with key industrial players in the energy sector and with government bodies in those countries.
They used BOI’s existing Investment Promotion Agency network to conduct extensive desk research for credible institutions with whom the Japanese team could possibly deal to achieve their investment objective, highlighted the agency in its January newsletter.
The work programme included meetings with officials from the ministry of energy, representatives of the energy regulatory bodies, independent power producer associations and the major independent power producers of the targeted countries.
In collaboration with Trade and Investment South Africa (TISA), ACE also organised a half-day seminar at the TISA department to allow major energy players to meet the Japanese group, hence creating a networking opportunity for the Japanese delegation.
In order to ensure a proper coordination of the seminar and meetings, two BOI staff members also accompanied the Japanese group to Africa.
During their investment mission, while the Japanese company was being informed of the current status of the energy sector and the prospective investment opportunities in those countries.
