NEC: Several Innovative Projects

The National Energy Commission (NEC) has received four people Wednesday to hear their proposals in the energy sector. These hearings provide an opportunity for members of the public to make a presentation of renewable energy projects. Wednesday's session was chaired by Mohamed Osman.

Mohamed Osman said that the commission has so far received a score of project proponents. He is satisfied with some proposals and stressed that there is a passion of youth to present projects. It was noted that the NEC has recalled some bidders to be more aware of their projects.

The four people were interviewed Wednesday Purguss Dilipsingh, Ashley Appadoo, Zaheer Allam and Thiery Rey. Purguss Dilipsingh focused on the importance of saving energy. He recommended the installation of photovoltaic panels. He believes that the government should invest and place the panels on public buildings such as schools and hospitals.

Ashley Appadoo has also referred to the importance of improving energy efficiency. He said it is essential to an energy balance to review the current mode of consumption. He suggested to do a study on the energy network to determine if it can support more megawatts. He also called for energy projects from solar panel.

Zaheer Allam, he recommended the establishment of 'green buildings', which will save energy. He referred to the urban planning that can help reduce energy consumption in buildings.

Thierry Rey, Business Development Director of ENL Property, proposed the installation of photovoltaic panels on the building project of the shopping complex Bagatelle, to allow it to be self-sufficient in energy. He stressed that a formal request was made and hoped that the Central Electricity Board back to him with the type of equipment that will be used. He said that such a project will produce 2.6 megawatts of power, which represents about 30% of the consumption of the commercial complex.
