According to her, this strategy provides a roadmap to the government's vision and improves the visibility of all stakeholders on the possibilities of distance education.
"The policy of distance education is innovative because it is based on a theory of distance education. Develop a policy from a pedagogical theory improves its durability, "said Dr. Gokool-Ramdoo.
She also added that the process behind the development of this policy was participatory and evidence-based.
"There have been a series of consultations with stakeholders as well as data collection and exercises from individual interviews with focus groups," pointed out the representative of the TEC.
She said the new policy for distance education promotes national development and reinforces the government's program to transform Mauritius into a 'Knowledge Hub'.
The guest of honor at this event was Professor Godson Gatsha, director of the Southern African Development Community - Centre for Distance Education.
