TEC Measurements: New Impetus for Distance Education

Today, Monday, June 17, the TEC will publish a list of measures that operators in the area of distance education should follow in their program. That, in order to provide access to this type of training.

This is a new policy on distance education. And it should help give momentum to a national post-secondary education online while integrating new technologies. The director of this strategy plan was presented Thursday, June 13th by Dr. Sushita Gokool-Ramdoo, Acting Headof the Department of educationand Open Distance Learning , the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC). The measures appear on the website of the institution from Monday, June 17 In particular, they enable partners and operators of the best integrate them into their teaching program.

Based on an analysis of the existing education system, several strategies are proposed to promote distance learning. They also align with the objectives of SADC Centre for Distance Education.

For Dr. Godson Gatsha, director of the TEC, who attended the presentation last Thursday, the long term vision for the Mauritian policy on distance learning. This is a reference to the region.This policy is the result of the work of a subcommittee of the TEC established in September 2012. After a series of consultations with educators from public and private sectors, the project was completed in February 2013 with the support of Ken Cathan, Associate Professor , and Sabir Kasenally officer in charge of the TEC, among others.

Distance Education: TEC Defines New Policy
