Several liters of heavy oil spilled, Wednesday, July 3, in the harbor of Port Louis. A pipeline owned by Vivo Energy broke during an unloading operation. The pumping operation began on Thursday.

Approximately 5000 liters of heavy oil spilled into the harbor of Port Louis in the vicinity of the Red Sea. A pipeline of Vivo Energy has been damaged during unloading. Port firefighters and those of the Mauritius Ports Authority (MPA) have established a Contigency Oil Spill Plan . The pumping operation began on Thursday July 4.

According to the head of Communication Vivo Energy Ltd. , Belinda Ramtohul, there was an accident Wednesday, July 3, in the morning. " All operations were suspended when the leak was discovered. The pipeline acheminait the petroleum product to our premises. The situation is under control. The pumping operation began on the morning of Thursday, July 4 , "said the latter to Le Express.
