Enterprise Mauritius: Festival For The Local Rum

To increase the visibility of Mauritius as a producer of quality rums, Enterprise Mauritius is organizing the first Rum Festival. The guest speaker will be Ian Burrell, Rum Ambassador to the United Kingdom.

The festival includes two events. A fair rum and stands today at Sugar Beach Hotel to interest international and local professional buyers. Buyers from various countries, South Africa, United States, Germany, Ethiopia, Comoros, Hong Kong and Russia, will be present. "I think this will give more importance to the Mauritian rum industry. I must say that we have a very good product here and it is important to develop and that Maurice is known in other countries for its rum. The rum festival will attract many foreign buyers. We would like to repeat this event every year and give a maximum of local producers to promote their products. For this first festival we have 15 Mauritian companies showcase their products. With foreign buyers will be encouraged to make innovative products for the needs of international sales, "explains one of the project leaders.Tomorrow, a rum fiesta will be held at Clos St Louis, Domaine Straws. This event is open to the general public and tourists. An entrance fee of Rs 200 will be charged.Enterprise Mauritius began to actively promote the export of rum in Mauritius with a buyers-sellers meeting in India in 2007.
