The promotion of Mauritius as a tourist destination has cost Rs 444 million to the state, while the initial budget was Rs 390 million. During the parliamentary session yesterday, Tourism Minister Michael Sik Yuen, had to explain the additional cost of Rs 54 million. He answered questions from opposition member Steeve Obeegadoo. Tourism Minister discussed the consequences of the financial crisis on tourist arrivals in 2013, namely those of European countries.
The campaign of Maurice in Europe has intensified this year. "We also focused on the promotion of Mauritius in the non-European countries.
