Mauritius Will Not Host Next Commonwealth Summit

"Mauritius has decided to withdraw its application to organize the Commonwealth summit in 2015," said the Prime Minister in Parliament on Friday November 15.

This, following his decision not to go to this summit held in Sri Lanka, due to violations of human rights in that country.

" Human rights are more important than the organization of the Commonwealth summit as prestigious as it is. " Prime Minister said on Friday 15th November to Parliament, Mauritius does not host the next summit Commonwealth in 2015. An announcement follows the Prime Minister's decision not to attend this summit to be held in Sri Lanka due to violations of human rights in that country.

" In fact, that Mauritius can organize the next summit, it was imperative that I have this year for the handover ceremony. We have withdrawn our request , "said the Prime Minister.

Foreign Minister Arvin Boolell, represent Mauritius at the top in Sri Lanka.
