NTC: Rs 218 Million for 65 New Buses

ABC Motors Ltd. has just won the contract to provide 65 new buses to the National Transport Corporation (NTC). These vehicles, which will be on the road in March 2014, will be used to renew the fleet of the corporation at a cost of Rs 218 million. They serve several parts of the country.

Under the leadership of the NTC, most of these buses, a quarantine shall be sixty places. Other buses serve the intra-urban trips.

Two local companies had signified their intentions to provide the buses after a tendering exercise. This is ABC Motors Ltd. and firm Iframac Ltd.. In the direction of the corporation, the new buses will be used to improve passenger comfort.

The leadership of the NTC also indicates that he did not intend to withdraw air-conditioned bus (Blue Line) on its lines. "We will do everything just a rebranding," said Le Matinal a high part of the corporation. If all goes as planned, the 65 buses of the corporation will be on the road in March. Also, the corporation has indicated its intention to purchase a hundred new buses from Japan. Negotiations are currently underway between the Government of Mauritius and Japan for the purchase of these buses through a line of credit. These buses "semi Low floor" in the direction of the NTC are more comfortable for passengers.

In addition, there will be less vibration inside and passengers will no longer need to perform maneuvers to sit on buses of the NTC. The corporation currently has a fleet of 500 buses.
