Summing-up of Duval: an Inquiry Committee on the Report of the Audit Announced

It is in the eyes of the opposition, which is quietly returned to the Chamber before he spoke, Xavier-Luc Duval made his summing-up as a result of budget debates. The Minister of Finance announced the creation of a committee of inquiry, chaired by the Financial Secretary, who will examine the issues raised by the report of the Audit. He was speaking last night, Tuesday, Nov. 26, at the National Assembly.

The inquiry committee will prepare a new report which will be forwarded to the Public Service Commission (PSC), which will be responsible for implementing the recommendations.According to Xavier-Luc Duval, the Financial Secretary shall review each section of the report, specifically those concerning unnecessary expenses.

The PSC will then determine the actions to improve the management of departments or ministries singled out. The finance minister stressed that it is easy to criticize, and to forget the contents of the report.

Moreover, during the Committee of Supply , which took place at the end of the parliamentary session, members of the opposition have long questioned the funding for travel in the budget and increase positions in the public service.

The session was also marked by an altercation between Rajesh Bhagwan and Patrick Assirvaden, about a member's question about the position of MMM PPS in District No. 10. The Prime Minister said that the position is " vacant . "
