Accident: Terra Milling Will Be Pursued
The sugar estate of Terra Milling, Belle-Vue Harel is in bad shape. The management of the company or the Health and Safety Officer will be pursued by the Ministry of Labour for negligence following the accidental death of the worker Charles Harduick Nizelin, 32, Friday afternoon.

Unlucky was doing cleaning work inside a silo when the tragedy occurred. The assistant driver of a truck came recover a cargo of sugar opened the doors 3 and 4 of the silo, unaware that the workers were inside, thereby drawing the inhabitants of Rivière-du-Rempart, Charles Harduick Nizelin and colleagues Vicky Sonagadu, Anil Chummun and Vinay Sookun. It happened Friday, December 6 at Terra Milling plant .

Charles Harduick Nizelin suffocated after being buried under tons of sugar. Hospital shortly after the accident, having suffered various injuries, Vicky Sonagadu and Anil Chummun have them able to return home yesterday, Saturday, Dec. 7. But where things get tough for Terra is that officers of the Accident Unit of the Occupational Safety and Health Inspectorate of the Ministry of Labour have invested factory Terra Milling Friday. They found a clear case of negligence.

From the point of view of Labour and police investigators inspectors Terra Milling has not conducted a risk assessment for the work conducted by Charles Harduick Nizelin and colleagues. Worse, the truckload transportation of sugar, a contractual, was in his eighth loading when the accident occurred.

The driver and his help seemed unaware that the workers were busy cleaning the silo in which they were recovering sugar. Police stop and account supervisor plant having asked Charles Harduick Nizelin and his three colleagues to clean the silo.

The supervisor should be charged with manslaughter, provisionally, for failing to report their presence to the driver and assistant driver of the truck. These could also be brought before the court of Mapou on the same charge.

The direction of Terra Milling in turn issued a statement yesterday to explain that "internal investigation is also underway to shed light on this matter. This is the plant that is in shock. We sympathize with the family of the victim and give our full support to it " . The plant has also ceased operations yesterday to allow all employees to pay their last tribute to Charles Nizelin at his funeral. 

"I assure all concerned that we work closely with the authorities to try to clarify this matter as soon as possible. Our priority is to provide our support to all those who have been affected in this accident, " said the General Manager of Terra Milling , Jean Arthur Lagesse.
