This was said to Matinal Monday Ramnauth Santosh, chairman of the Shop Owners Association (SOA), which has about 4,000 shopkeepers across the country. The minimum penalty for the above offenses is Rs 2,000 approximately.
According to the president of SOA, it is the police who usually book these tickets to members. He insists that the shopkeepers operating in a very difficult situation these days.
First, stores face stiff competition from supermarkets who play competitive prices in that it is a variety of products, he said. He added that some products sold in supermarkets and hypermarkets are not delivered to the shopkeepers. All this contributes to weaken the financial health of shopkeepers, insists the president of the SOA. It highlights the need for the authorities to understand that small shopkeepers disservice to the people and must be flexible towards them.
"If this situation continues, we will see the death of small corner shops. We know that many of these businesses have already put the key under the door, "insists the president of the SOA. He said noted that the high cost of living encourages many small shops to make sales credit. "What makes our financial resources are committed for some time," he says. And add it notes that the sale of various products by shopkeepers fell sharply lately.
Santosh Ramnauth indicates that the shopkeepers generally operate within the law and as such, they honor their financial commitments in terms of taxation.
He argues that he would raise all the above points with the relevant authorities in January 2014.
