Holi: Celebrations Start

It marks every year the spring equinox. Holi, the spring festival and fertility will be celebrated Monday, March 17 by Mauritians of Hindu faith. As part of the celebrations, they will proceed with the traditional launch of ' gulal '(colored powder).

But first, devotees devote themselves to Holika Dahan Sunday night. This ritual takes place on the eve of Holi festival. Devotees burn effigies of Holika, crafted with straw and fabric.
