Tourism: Marriage of a Hundred Chinese Couples in Mauritius

Negotiations are currently underway between the Tourist Office of China and the Ministry of Tourism to finalize the marriage of a hundred Chinese couples in Mauritius by the end of the year.

Tourism Minister Michael Sik Yuen said this on Sunday to Le Matinal. He argued that film producers, journalists from the Chinese press, artists are currently in Mauritius to identify sites and present their projects

Journalists Dragon TV, Shanghai Times Weekly, Life Weekly, Shanghai Media Group Pictures, Shanghai Wedding Trade Association, Shanghai Youth Center and the film's producer TinyTime, Mons. Heli Chengnang made visit to Mauritius.

According to journalists and filmmakers present, Mauritius is a popular and suitable for the celebration of the wedding destination. According to available statistics there are about 20,000 couples who marry each year in Shanghai and who leave their country to celebrate their wedding abroad.

Mauritius ranks as a flagship destination where couples can combine Chinese travel, marriage, relaxing honeymoon. Chinese delegation met during the past week the Minister Michael Sik Yuen to discuss various projects and film shoots in Mauritius. Chinese artists rely on the support of the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority as well as various hotel partners.

Chinese films shooting in Mauritius represents an excellent opportunity to better present and visible in this market, says Michael Sik Yuen. During their stay in Mauritius, the Chinese delegation will identify sites and places for shooting films. To date, three Chinese films were made in Mauritius in 2013.
