The former financial secretary spent more than 30 years in the Ministry of Finance. He began his career as a senior accountant in 1974 within the civil service. Until 1990, he rose through the ranks, occupying several positions and becoming financial secretary this year.
With a degree in International Management, Dev Manraj studied at the International Institute for Management Development located in Lausanne, Switzerland. Dev Manraj is also a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA).
The Dev Manraj served as Chairman within several government or semi-government companies such as the State Bank of Mauritius (SBM), the State Insurance Corporation of Mauritius Ltd (SICOM), the Mauritius Offshore Business Activities Authority (MOBAA), the Airport Development Corporation Ltd (ADCO), the Airport of Mauritius Co Ltd (AML), Business Parks of Mauritius Ltd (BPML).
This financial giant has also been able to put its mark on flagship projects such as the Cybercité d'Ébène.
Dev Manraj was one of the initiators of the establishment of the Financial Services Commission, the State Investment Corporation, the Economic Development Board and more recently, Metro Express Ltd among many others.
Until recently, he was the Chairman of Air Mauritius, Director of the Board of Mauritius Telecom Ltd, the Economic Development Board and the Metro Express Ltd as well as the Airports Terminal Operatons Ltd among others.
As for links with other countries, Dev Manraj participated in the realization of agreements such as the Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement.
Namely that he was alternate governor at the World Bank, representing Mauritius.
