The president of MCCI, Marday Venkatasamy, spoke about co-operation that would help islands and countries in African region to prosper economically.
He said that the access to start big economic businesses with harmonised and transparent rules provide opportunities for Mauritian enterprises.
He added that thus MCCI supports the government’s stand which is in favour of Tripartite Initiative. He also informed that MCCI has decided to engage in internal reflection which will allow trade to develop regionally. He added that it is necessary to have bilateral approach to regional integration.
The president of the regional council of Reunion, Didier Robert, said that solidarity between the islands of the Indian Ocean was the most appropriate measure to face economic turmoil.
“I am convinced that the success of our development is based on our ability to mobilise ourselves and our ability to define the strategy with which we will support each other,” he said.
He chose Réunion to redirect and work towards strengthening relations with countries in the area stating that the key to our future success is close partnership with neighbouring countries.
