Guy Morel, director and head of technical department and sales manager for Mauvilac, said, “The price of Mauvilac paint might increase from 6 to 8 per cent. This is directly linked to the rise in raw material prices. Resin is used for the production of paint and from March to August 2010, its price increased dramatically by 20 per cent. The price of raw materials such as white pigment also increased by 25 to 30 per cent last year. The price of raw materials is rising on the world market.”
Morel added, “We should also note that the rise in the price of a barrel of petrol has had a direct impact on the price of raw materials. However, it does not mean that if the petrol barrel is rising, we will immediately raise our prices. We will follow the evolution of the market before taking any decision for this year.”
