It stated that in spite of statements made by President Sir Anerood Jugnauth and Prime Minister Dr Navin Ramgoolam on the state of corruption in Mauritius, nothing concrete has been done.
The institution was worried about the level of corruption and believed it would have a negative impact in the long run.
It added neither the government nor the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) has taken bold steps to combat corruption. The director of Transparency Mauritius, Jeet Golam was worried about investigations over cases of corruptions involving high ranking officials of the state which was taking too much time.
Transparency Mauritius said that the population was still awaiting the results of the ICAC over the MedPoint and the Chady cases.
Transparency Mauritius also invited people to visit its legal and citizen support centre to report any kind of corruption case. Moreover, it requested all stakeholders involved in the fight against corruption to work together for a clean and transparent Mauritius.
