Various sewerage works are currently ongoing across the country, including at Plaines Wilhems. The project started some time ago in different phases.

This includes the Lot 1B linking Roches Brunes to Mont Roches where 4,000 homes will be connected to a sewage network. Sixty-seven per cent of work has already been completed.

Also, according to the Waste Water Authority (WMA), the work must be completed by December this year. As for Lot 2 which connects the region of Quatre Bornes / Sodnac and part of Rose Hill, 63 per cent of the work has already been completed. It is expected to finish by September 2012.

For Lot 1A at Palma and Rose Hill, the works have just begun. Twenty per cent of the work has been finished and this phase will be completed 2013.

The northern region is also affected by sewerage work. This sewer will collect, transport and treat sewage before discharging it.

About 110 miles of sewer networks will be built and 10,000 households in the regions of Solitude, Triolet, Trou aux Biches, Morcellement St André, Plaine des Papayes, Mont Choisy and Pointe aux Piments will be connected.

The project also includes construction of six pumping stations in Solitude, Triolet, Pointe aux Piments, Morcellement St André and Plaine des Papayes.

A new wastewater treatment plant with a capacity of 10,500 m3 per day is also planned within the confines of the existing treatment plant at Choisy. The wastewater, after treatment, will be sold to sugar estates or to be injected into boreholes.
