The Ministry of Tourism and Leisure has decided to regulate the business of hawkers on public beaches

The Ministry of Tourism and Leisure has decided to regulate the business of hawkers on public beaches. In future, hawkers will be gathered at one kiosk near hotels and beaches where they will be able to sell their products.

Tourists will go to them for any purchasing, not vice versa. “The Tourism Act will soon be amended to protect tourists ,” says an official from the Ministry of Tourism.

“This will no doubt lead to a decrease in the number of hawkers, who will be required to have a permit to operate. These measures have become necessary because there has been much abuse bypart of people operating without permits.”
