A general disruption in Internet connection affected the island on Wednesday from 11 am to 4 pm.
The connection was disrupted for another 30 minutes at 7.30 pm.
Mauritius Telecom said the breakdown was due to a technical problem in one of its servers.
Contacted by phone, an officer of Mauritius Telecom underlined that the technicians of the telecommunications company were looking into the matter.
“It was a general technical problem and our officers are undertaking the necessary repairs. People faced more problems accessing international websites as some local sites remained available,” he explained.
This disruption caused some difficulties, especially for companies that depend on the Internet for daily operations. The business processing operating sector was particularly hit.
