Fort William Will host a Seafood Factory
American consultants Louis Berger Group (LBG) argue that Fort William, which remains one of the areas to be developed in the port itself as an ideal site to develop the infrastructure of a modern fishing industry equipped with a unit processing of seafood.

This plant processing and packaging of seafood could co-exist next to a dry dock to accommodate ships and repair of fishing boats.

Indeed, in a report submitted to the government in late 2011, Louis Berger Group which was tasked to conduct a study on the development potential of Fort William, the government suggests a wide range of projects taking into account the perspectives of future of Port-Louis.

Strategy since 2009

This study is based on the overall strategy developed in 2009.

The 2009 plan proposed project by considering that the Bulk Sugar Terminal would be phased out. However, this is not the case when one considers that the bulk of the infrastructure of the complex are still there and that stores are still used for storage of bags of sugar for export containers. The area Fort William, stressed, covers an area of 32.5 hectares undeveloped.
