The market vendors are getting impatient to get their stalls. However, the Lord mayor wanted everything to be perfect for the inauguration and the vendors are not very happy with this decision. “The Lordmayor has made a provision for 300 stalls in the market and some 400 applications were received. When it will open, some 232 vendors will get their stalls while the rest will be allocated under the New Local Government Act. I can assure the population that no one will be privileged,” said municipal councillor Ehsan Juman.
He added, “The residents of St Croix and the surrounding areas will benefit from the new market from next month. This market was necessitated an investment of Rs 54 million.
The market was ready on November 2011, but the mayor could not attend the inauguration as the new market required additional work, which the vendors are not happy about.”
