The ticket price of Hajj falls to U.S. $ 1 170. So that the pilgrims will only have to pay Rs 39,000 instead of Rs 45,000. This is the decision of the Council of Ministers on Friday 3 August. Note that the pilgrims have for years called for such a decline.

Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam, announced on 31 August 2011, during celebrations of Eid Ul Fitr, the ticket prices for the Hajj would experience a decline. The Council of Ministers has finally decided this Friday, August 3. A pilgrim now pay the sum of U.S. $ 1.170 to go to Hajj, or the sum of Rs 39,000 instead of Rs 45,000. This will allow pilgrims to save the sum of Rs 6000.

It is August 31, 2011, the prime minister had announced such a decline. During his speech, Navin Ramgoolam had dwelt at length on the negotiations that had begun with the management of Emirates Airlines to find that common ground.

Navin Ramgoolam had, at the same time, indicated that the seats reserved Mauritians would be revised upwards. Indeed, the number of seats was 350 and it was agreed that additional spaces would be available to the pilgrims. The Prime Minister had then said there would be 650 additional seats, or 1000. " These places are not however restricted only to Mauritius " , he added.
