Port-Louis is left with the largest number of candidates with 118, followed by Curepipe with 70, with 62 Beau-Bassin/Rose-Hill of Vacoas / Phoenix with 58 and with 48 Quatre-Bornes.

The town of Quatre-Bornes rose to a point of gender / women which is registered candidates under the banner of a group or alliance. In fact 17 women candidates in these elections will be for the Remake 2000, the Labour-Party alliance Mauritian Social Democrat (PTr-PMSD) or fraternal greens.

It will probably just that the direction of the government alliance allows Ariane Oxhenam, sacrificed to Jean Paul Chong pressure of PMSD, to be a candidate for the number of candidates exceeds that of party candidates in the city flowers.

Moreover, 61 citizens, including six women, will run for re-election in urban areas as an independent.

385,292 voters are going to the polls in the five cities in a month. Port-Louis obviously brings the greatest number of potential voters with 110,916 registered voters who will elect 24 councilors, three for each of the 8 districts. Follow in order, Vacoas / Phoenix with 80,330 for 18 counselors, Beau Bassin / Rose Hill with 76,239 voters for 18 counselors also Curepipe with 60,632 voters and 15 councilors Quatre-Bornes with 57,175 voters 15 councilors.

Training or political alliance must necessarily align at least three women candidates in each of the districts they covet. This represents a minimum of 30 candidates to find for both competing blocs.
