From this Saturday, some courses will be launched in the former building of the Mauritius Broadcasting Corporation (MBC), Forest-Side. This is the New Professional Diploma in Transport and Logistics Certificate in Proficiency and Early Childhood Education, and subsequently the BA and MA in English. This is also an opportunity for those who wish to return to school to start again. Module-English kreol is proposed. Thus, those who do not master English will follow a module spread over a semester. Thereafter, it will be another module in order to study Business English.
Those who do not have "A-Level" will complete the Foundation Courses, including English, economics, French, mathematics and science. Enabling them to register for training in the first year.
Mr. Sukon shows that registration procedures are available online at the Mauritius College of the Air (MCA) to Reduitor former MBC building, Forest Side. The Director argues that there is a great interest among prospective students. He says that they can pursue their professional activities while studying at their own pace. There will be no time constraints, since all courses are online.
Kaviraj Sukon emphasizes that studies be accessible and flexible. Students who are referred are Mauritians, but also those in Africa and India. Courses offered for its first year of operation are as follows: the economy (finance and taxation), management, management. In June, the Open University of Mauritius plans to offer courses in humanities, languages and education, among others. For September 2013, management expects the registration of some 2,000 students. That number could grow to 10,000 students by 2015. Regarding university fees, the Director considers that the costs will be 50-60% lower than those charged by traditional universities.
This is an incentive for students undertaking higher education. Examinations will be conducted at Forest Side, and foreigners, they take place in universities and those who in partnership with OUM. Moreover, it is in association with renowned international institutions such as: Indira Gandhi National Open University, the Open University of UK, the African Council for Distance Education and UNISA.
