Exports of domestic companies amounted to Rs 43.9 billion for the first three quarters of 2013 compared to Rs 41.1 billion for the same period in 2012, an increase of 6.7%. It is noted that Dev Chamroo, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Enterprise Mauritius in the last newsletter agency export promotion and marketing support to local businesses.

He also noted that exports to non-traditional markets continue to grow and accounted for the period January-September 2013, approximately 19% of total exports. Data on domestic exports made by the Enterprise Mauritius direction in its October 2013 report suggest a growth rate lower than that recorded for the first six months of the year. Dev Chamroo had reported in a previous report for the period January-June 2013, the value of these exports amounted to Rs 29.1 billion, an increase of 9% compared with the performance for the first six-month period of 2012.

In addition, Enterprise Mauritius is organizing the participation of about 90 SMEs in the first edition of the "Week of Giveaways" to be held in the Sister Island November 6 to 11 at the Exhibition and Congress St-Denis . According to Enterprise Mauritius, this is the first time such a large delegation of Mauritian companies involved in commercial event in a foreign market.

The "Week of Giveaways" is a multi-sector fair to attract around 300 exhibitors including many from neighboring countries. Organizers expect to attract around 40,000 visitors. Companies representing the food, textile and clothing, sports / recreation, crafts, household, health and tourism will be present at the trade event. Enterprise Mauritius revealed that she wants to improve the visibility of Mauritian products on Reunion market where the strong presence of local entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to demonstrate the Mauritian expertise.

Enterprise Mauritius has also led to the beginning of October a delegation of Mauritian businessmen at Nairobi International Trade Fair. It was the first Mauritian participation in this annual event where we also noted the presence of traders from 17 foreign countries, including China, India, Singapore, Pakistan, Israel and COMESA. Mauritian firms accounted for the textiles and clothing, jewelery, crafts, painting, computer, audit, light engineering, footwear and manufacture of household cleaning products.

" This Trade Fair was an ideal platform for our exhibitors to establish meaningful contacts and to even secure confirmed orders for a wide range of products. Our presence at NITF also revealed that the Mauritian products were perceived to be quite competitive and of high quality in general. The designs and creativity for the jewellery & handicrafts products were appreciated as well, " declares Enterprise Mauritius.

The Mauritian pavilion visited by the President of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta. The latter was accompanied by a large number of officials. Enterprise Mauritius think that this visit had a positive effect on the image and prestige of Mauritius as Kenya economic partner.
