Public Beach of Flic en Flac Enlarged Soon.
Trusted sources, Le Mauricien learns that discussions began a few weeks ago at the Ministry of Lands and Housing to declare again - public - a plot of 1, 40 acres in Flic-en-Flac. The relevant piece of beach is just before the hotel Pearle Beach, going to La Pirogue.

The goal: to provide more space for picnickers. As a reminder, a protest movement has emerged in recent months, bemoaning the shrinking of our public beaches and grabbing for commercial and personal projects for boyfriends.

Reportedly, several meetings have been held so that land of one acre and 40 perches, located between Beach Hotel Pearle and Flic-en-Flac, is open to the public again. This, while in 2002 this same plot was déproclamée by the Ministry and leased to some developers. It was then a question of the expansion of the Pearle Beach Hotel and the construction of a marina and a restaurant. If Pearle Beach hotel has actually made an enlargement or water sports center or the restaurant have emerged so far. According to our information, the criteria for the allocation of the lease has not been met, the decision of the Ministry of Lands and Housing to return the land to tenants, after having succeeded after a lawsuit filed by one of the promoters trial. After these developments, the land now free again become public soon.

Indeed, faced with the problem of uncontrolled development on our beaches and a problem of rehousing Beach Traders who invaded, with the blessing of the Beach Authority (BA), the public beaches, Flic-en-Flac, the Ministry of Lands and Housing is taking steps to rectify the situation and provide more space for picnickers. There are three weeks, the Minister Abu Kasenally angry face projects of BA, which permits allocated to Beach Traders to install all-going quasi-permanent structures on public beaches, and indeed its finding of narrowing public beaches, has indicated its intention "to order". He began by Flic-en-Flac, serving a Notice to the Squat Beach Traders. However, Beach Traders with a license in good standing of the Beach Authority, the Ministry was forced to back down, time to find a solution to the problem of uncontrolled development on the beaches around the island.

Week End-learning and discussions were initiated to proclaim this plot, with a surface area of two football field, public beach in Flic-en-Flac. This stretch of beach is also equipped facilities, including toilets and showers, as well as street lights and benches for picnickers to enjoy. In the same vein, the Ministry of Lands and Housing has support on the project of the Ministry of Tourism, Blue Flag, synonymous with proper use and management of the coastal zone, including water quality, environmental education and education, environmental management and safety on our beaches, to relocate the Beach Traders. The goal is, with the Blue Flag certification, there are also harmonizing Beach Traders on our beaches.
