Review Of 14 Remuneration Orders
In his proposals this week the National Remuneration Board (NRB) on the revision of 14 Remuneration Orders (RO), the Confederation of workers in the private sector (PSAP) called for a minimum wage of Rs 8000 and a standardization of conditions work in 14 sectors.

In his budget speech in 2014, Xavier-Luc Duval announced the revision of no less than 14 RO.

"It's easy to understand the reasons that lead us to demand a minimum wage of Rs 8,000 for the 14 categories of workers and standardization of working conditions," said the President of the CTSP Reeaz Chuttoo. "Since September 2012, the government approved the Office Waiting Remuneration Order. Office attendents, commonly known as "pawns" in Mauritius, are considered part of the category of the lowest workers. However, this RO granted a minimum monthly salary of Rs 8000. Therefore, the PSAP is unclear how the government could not provide the minimum salary to other categories of workers ", argued Reeaz Chuttoo.

President of the CTSP said that the trade union federation has called an annual "increment" of Rs 200 over 10 years. "Today, our laws do not allow us to further discriminate between different categories of workers," he added.

As for the demand for uniform conditions of the 14 categories of workers working CTSP justifies by saying that "workers, as human beings have the same needs" in terms of number of days of leave of hours of work and other "benefits" such as "Maternity Leave," "Death Grant," "Night Shift Allowance" or "Meals Allowance", among others. "These are inalienable human rights that can not deny a human being under the pretext that it is a different job. Because a worker is hungry and needs to eat or to rest as any other worker "developed Reeaz Chuttoo.

However, the union said "doubt the seriousness" of the Minister of Finance when he announced a review of the 14 RO within a year. "When you know that, on the one hand, the NRB can do the revision of three to four RO in one year and that the 2014 budget contains no increase in budget allocation for staff this instance, it can hardly believe that they come to examine the wage proposals and working conditions in 14 different sectors ", he has said. "This is why the union federations and unions in general, as the PSAP must continue to press for increased staff NRB" wishes Reeaz Chuttoo.
