Many beaches have been affected by the cyclone Bejisa. The Beach Authority is working to take stock of the damage caused by heavy swells and bursts. Since Friday, agents are sent to each public beach on the island to establish an inventory. Several beaches have been eroded and trees battered by the winds currently represent a danger to the public.
According to the director of the organization, Subash Seerutun, a full report will be submitted no later than Tuesday. And actions will be taken in order of priority, to avoid degradation and accidents.
Some beaches have not expected the visit of the officers of the Beach Authority . A Grand Gaube, for example, broken branches have already been collected and weakened trees uprooted.
Moreover, after the cyclone Bejisa, jellyfish have appeared in the North Lagoon. Brought by the heavy swell, they were seen near the beaches of Trou-aux-Biches, Mon Choisy and Pereybere.At the moment, no incident has been reported but authorities call the public to be vigilant. It is advised not to swim in areas where a bank was spotted jellyfish. In case of puncture, it must go to a health center.
